The difference
A bank has customers. We have owners.
The structure is not a marketing angle. It changes where the money goes.
| A typical bank | Ridgeline | |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns it | Outside shareholders | The members, including you |
| Where profits go | Dividends to shareholders | Back as better rates and lower fees |
| Who votes | Shareholders, by shares held | Members, one vote each |
| Who sets direction | A paid board | A volunteer board elected by members |
| Who decides on your loan | Often a scoring model out of state | A lender in Salt Lake City |
| Deposit insurance | FDIC, to $250,000 | NCUA, to $250,000 |

“I have been with this credit union since 2008 when I was referred by a friend to establish an account and work on getting a car loan and I never left.”

Ownership
What being an owner actually means.
Not a slogan. Three things you can go do.
You get a vote
One member, one vote, whether you keep $25 here or $500,000. Members elect the volunteer board of directors that sets the credit union’s direction.
You are invited to the annual meeting
Members are invited to the annual meeting to hear how the year went, review the financials, and ask questions.
The earnings come back
Ridgeline is not-for-profit. What we earn comes back to members as dividends on savings and rates on loans, not as profit for outside shareholders.
